CRAFTING TOMORROW
At the core of our academic program is the belief that understanding the lineage of ancestral craftsmanship allows innovation to be rooted in meaning, substance, and integrity. Our curriculum is therefore built around first immersing students in the cultural narratives, production and design principles intrinsically tied to communities across the globe. This grounds them in appreciation for fashion's profound human connections.
Equipped with this ethnographic perspective, students can then thoughtfully translate heirloom practices into fresh expressions which authentically represent the essence of cultures while advancing fashion innovation.
We are currently developing courses to be released that empower students to walk this path from past techniques to trailblazing designs. Join us as we shape the future trajectory of fashion education.
OUR MANDATE
BluVelvet Fashion Institute has three core mandates:
1. To raise a new generation of fashion designers and fashion professionals (across the entire fashion value chain) who are driven by standardization and a sound understanding of structured fashion development systems for Proficiency in fashion
2. To provide fashion-related training workshops, for designers and other fashion-facing practices willing to work or partner with the fashion industry.
3. To engage in the research, training, and development and to publish the outcome of such research in books, newsletters, reports, journals and pamphlets for the purpose of making new research findings available to the fashion industry.
PEDAGOGY
At the core of BFI is a strong focus aimed at promoting the creative excellence of craftmanship inherent in diverse cultures across the world.
When global fashion talent truly understands the fashion heritage behind a culture, their capability to represent that culture in today's design language or tomorrow's innovative voice increases exponentially.
The acquisition of that invaluable insight is what underpins our educational approach. It is a paradigm that drives the teams currently working on the educational programs we look to roll out in the future.
